A Word From Master Nixon

” I achieved my Black Belt in 1986 and I have trained thousands of students in my 27 years as a martial arts instructor.  I teach my students that martial arts is not just a form of self-defense, but a way of living.

We teach our students to respect themselves and others, to find strength in holding steadfast to one’s values.  The challenges you overcome during training helps one to realize that we hold tremendous power within us both mentally and physically and that the choices we make can either create balance and harmony or cause chaos in our worlds.

It is my belief that our society needs the balance that martial arts can instill into individuals, especially our children. “

“I’ve trained at Rowlett Martial Arts Center for 5 years, I received my 1st degree black belt and I love every minute of it .”

“The family that kicks together, sticks together”

My journey began years ago when as a Mother, I placed my 7 year old son in Martial Arts classes. I could never have imagined the impact of that one decision. My son went on to earn his 1st Degree Black Belt, graduated high school, College and now as an adult, continues to stay successful in his career choice. He is a 3rd Degree Black Belt and still an active member of Rowlett Martial Arts Center. For the past 12 years, I have held the position of Operations Director of Rowlett Martial Arts Center. In that time I have also achieved my own 3rd degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and my First Degree Black Belt in the Philippine Martial Art of Arnis. Witnessing so many amazing moments and accomplishments with our students is my motivation for coming to work. They benefit from improved confidence, great self-esteem, healthy friendships and so much more. Watching them go from white belt to black belt is especially rewarding. Our adult members see increased physical energy, flexibility and stamina. Studying martial arts at ANY age has lasting lifetime benefits. Martial arts is for the entire family. Many of our parents take classes along with their children. Our slogan is, “The family that kicks together, sticks together”. Martial arts truly is a way of living!

Black Belt Student Reviews

” I started with Master Nixon at the age of 9 and earned my black belt by the age of 13. As a kid involved in sports I was competitive, and I enjoyed the sport aspect. At the age of 9 Mr. Nixon instilled in me to never quit, values like honesty and integrity. I had no idea the impact this would have on me as an adult.  Today I am 35 years old, a father of 3, and a successful entrepreneur. It’s only now, as an adult, I am able to fully appreciate the gift I was given. I realize now that Master Nixon is doing so much more then teaching martial arts. I’m not sure he will every fully understand the profound impact he has made in the lives of his students. As an adult, I can say that my time with Master Nixon gave me an edge that I still carry to this day. I can’t say thank you enough.” Sean Matheis, Black Belt

” Rowlett Martial Arts Center is a wonderful place to learn Taekwondo. I am one of the many people who have gone through the program and now am a black belt. Today I still go to this Martial Arts school. There is something that stands out to me when I am there. You know what it is? 0% Negativity. I also love how Master Nixon teaches life lessons. These life lessons have taught how to be a better person in life.”  Alex Cormier, Black Belt

“My taekwondo journey began with my son’s encouragement. To be honest, I thought I was too old for serious training or ever becoming a black belt.  Fortunately, Master Nixon had more confidence in my potential.  His curriculum develops both mind and body by gradually increasing the intensity and difficulty of the training.  The camaraderie and support from the instructors and fellow students are exceptional, to say the least.  RMAC has become like a family. Many years later, Taekwondo has become a way of life for me and my family.” Donna Hughes – 3rd Degree Black Belt
